About:  Corgis are noted for their small stature, upright ears, and large eyes.  There are only two clans in the race: Pembrokes, noted for short fluffy tails; and the Cardigans, noted by their long tails.  The clans' families can resemble humans with canine features or a mix of both human and canine.  Mostly human typically live in the South of Larea Vanya while the anthromorphic usually live in the Wilds (north), but it isn't a constant rule.  Both clan members are rather boisterous, especially when excited and angry, as well as resilient, being "too stubborn to die" from their wounds.  Due to their small stature, they are also mistaken to be younger than their actual age, which can annoy them or angry them.  But, they also use it to their advantage when catching their opponent off guard. Corgis usually go for occupations where they can aid others, such as sheep herding.

  Personality: 

 Easily excited and upbeat, Reese is one of the lights of the younger generation.  He doesn't openly dwell on the negative; focusing on turning a down into a up.  Off duty, he drops the dutiful tone for his usual chipper attitude.  He prefers playing 'dumb,' hiding his intelligence as well as his personal issues from others.  It is said that he has a stubborn streak, a trait most corgis have; however, his is typically seen when he actually decides on something or being a little too set in his ways.  He gets annoyed easily with nicknames referring to his childish appearance. More so when someone tries to pry into his personal affairs.  Both offenses get dropped easier than the grudges he forms, simmering beneath his outgoing demeanor and waiting for a moment to break out.

 

History: 

Reese was born in a small village in Einer along with his twin sister, Ceri.  Their mother ran her family's herb farm and practiced as the local apothecary.  With assistance from the village folk and extra money from her husband in Serinmir, she raised and educated them.  Despite the financial support and visits during the holidays, the young boy came to resent his father for leaving his mom and them behind, especially when his two younger sisters were born.  Reese spent his childhood helping with the farm, effectively becoming 'the man of house' out of necessity.  The few times his mother and sister could convince him to leave for a break, Reese found a hobby with some of the boys.  A small archery club that one of the locals ran, teaching the men a way to defend their farms from wild animals.

 

The summer after he turned sixteen, Aerona persuaded her son to travel to Serinmir to attend medical school, hoping that Reese will follow his father's footsteps as well as attempt to work out their differences.  That only lasted a few years, in which he dropped out after his professors' teaching styles failed to engage him.  The result was an argument with his father; both of them yelling about the past and present.  The argument ended with Dr. Heathway accusing his son of being unfocused and a disgrace.  Reese, in turn, started calling his dad by name and reminded the man of his wife back in Einer and all the times he left, abandoning her with the four children.

 

Reese took up his mother's maiden name, abandoning the name Heathway after that argument.  He also cut ties with his old man and for a while his family back home as he tried to make a living with odd jobs in the capital before having to return back to Einer.  The young man, now almost twenty-one, returned to work on his mother's farm, not having the heart to tell her about the fallout between him and his father.  His skills with the bow were sharped as he protected the herbs, providing his mother and sisters small game meat.  In addition, Reese often accompanied his twin to Serinmir as protection detail while Ceri just wanted him to take a break.  It was during one of those trips that Reese told her of the argument and reason why he wasn't in school.  Ceri, then, attempted to convince him to do something with his talents instead of what was expected of him.  He refused most of the time, claiming it was the duty of the firstborn.  It stayed like that until he accompanied her while there was an archery contest was in the capital.  Ceri hinted at the possibilities while Reese ended joining in hopes to get her off his back.  After participating in the contest, they were approached by a recruiter for the guard, whom was impressed with Reese's attempt.  Under his twin’s encouragement, he signed up.  So far, he doesn't regret the change in his lifestyle over the past few months.

Abilities:
Combat- Ranged and Hand-to-Hand: He is trained in both, specifically in bows and knives respectively.  Reese focused more on archery, having more practice and passion than the other.  He only carries the knives as a backup in case he is cornered.

Medical Training: It is combination from home to school.  Most of it is rather basic since dropping out of school while others is a little more advanced due to his leisurely reading and practice under his mother’s eye.  He taps into what in learning an anatomy class when he’s aiming particularly to slow a target down, such as a person’s ball and socket joints.


-First Aid- Basic: One of the intro classes from his school days.  There he learned to treat minor injuries such as cuts and scrapes.  In addition, he knows how to stitch a wound and set bones if needed, but both are based on text he's read.  He's a little relucent to do both, but will attempt if the situation calls for it.


-Herbal Medicine- Basic to Pre-Intermediate:  One of his classes from his school days as well as helping his mom out back home.  Typically, Reese mainly makes poultices and ointments to work in conjunction with his first aid training from dry herbs he buys or grows in the room.  Teas and tintures are made as he needs them and in small amounts to prevent waste.  He could also recommend what herbs to use to relieve some alignments such as stress and anxiety.  Beyond that, he's more comfortable recommending talking to an actual practicier.

Likes:
Reading:  Other than sparring, archery, and PT, he likes to open a book on rainy days.  He typically reads herbalogy and medicine. The books are often purchased while off duty and every three to four months on average.  It is a hobby he likes doing in private.

Gardens: They often remind him of the farm he grew up on.  In fact, he keeps a small herb garden in his bunk using various containers like pails and pottery.  The herbs he typically grows is used to stock his first aid kit or for tea.  It is a hobby he likes doing in private.

Training: It helps with his pent up stress and energy.

Ceri: His twin and currently the only family member that he regularly contact.  Some of his first aid supplies comes from her and her master in an apothcary in the middle class portion of Serinmir.


Dislikes:
Nicknames like 'kid' or 'shortie': He doesn't like being called anything along those lines and will correct when he has the chance to.  Usually, he makes a loud outburst about it, which is pretty much all the barracks need to know who did what.  But after a few hours, it is water under the bridge.
 
Dr. Gareth Heathway (Father): Mostly due to the lack of a father figure in his childhood.  Another factor is that while looking different, the twos' personalities are similiar enough that they both can only tolerate the other for a short period of time.  Yet, ironically, all Reese really wants from his old man is a sense of pride and acceptance.

Random Facts:

Usually keeps the white hair tied back at the base of his head.  Somedays it is just a tied, but he does braid it on occasion.  While it left undone, it is a good sign that he was woken up.

 The small vial around his neck is filled with dried lavender buds, his twin's favorite flower.

His uniform remains pretty much the same thru spring and fall.  In winter, his uniform is a little lighter in color as well as utilizes fur and a cloak.

He has a strong tendency of putting others' needs before his own and doing what is expected.  Just to get him to register for the guard took an equally stubborn twin encouraging him to go for it.
