For those that prefer the messenger, please send me a note and I will reply with my handle.

Edit: Removed the edits from last year/earlier this year.  i.e. the promotion, adding to the history, and the comment about combat attire.  Now below is a reorganized sheet since I have grown to not like it… At all.  But a little happier with it now with small updates since I push his plot. *shoves both Beros and Sanatos off a cliff*
________________________________________________
Name: Beros Solaris, or known by historians as Sanatos Hellsbane
Faction: Caelius

Race: Phoenix- Helvian

Note: I’ve added the sub since there are now other sub species of Phoenix like furesiya’s Suzaku and Dea’s White Phoenix in addition to a couple hybrids that sounded more like the bird than Beros’ kind.  So to prevent some confusion, Beros, Nikolas, Arwyn, and Virmin became members of a separate sub species under the Phoenix.  Helvian is based off the keep called Helvas Keep from the War of the Gods, which is now a ruin near the coast of the Graston Mountains (Region 7 on the map).

About the Phoenix- Helvian: The Phoenix is a race whom is social to anyone, but themselves. They carry the name of the mythical bird due to their healing ability. However, the other feats of the actual phoenix (strength, ability to be directly reborn) are not possessed by these winged humanoids. Members of the Phoenix prefer roaming around Zion, offering their racial and natural ability of healing to those in need or recording down a village’s events. Some have taken a liking of a barb, sharing their tales and music where they go. They only meet members of their kind every 100 years or so to procreate. When a new Phoenix is born, an elder combusts into flames, releasing their soul from the mortal remains and continuing their life cycle.

Members of the Phoenix slowly age, often appearing younger than they actually are, and can live for long periods of time. They classify those who reach 350 years as their elder, with their average lifespan around 300-400 years. They can be confused with angels, but the wings of Phoenix ranges from sunrise orange to blood-red and tipped with colors such as golden yellow. In fact, modern Phoenix use this mistake as they advantage, masquerading as their relative to protect themselves from hunters after their tears. There are very few that boast their actual race and fend off potential threats. Members of the race also possess eye sight that is on par with Zion’s birds of prey, but most of the wing types are more adept to daylight hours.

The Phoenix values their souls greatly due to the fact that they are reincarnations of said soul. If a soul is consumed, that Phoenix permanently dies, never to be reborn. Most of the time, however, a Phoenix can live out its life without knowing their past lives. If one were to awaken their souls (intentionally or by fate), they start taking on some of the quirks while memories flood the young’s mind. Over time, the soul and its current life will merge and become one. According to the race, these are said to be marked for greatness or a pawn in the world’s current age.

:bulletblack: Website used is Black Phoenix Alchemy, which was given by furesiya .

Wing Type:Falconiformes- Hawk

Residence:

:bulletblack: Status among his people: Wanderer- Beros has never claimed territory.  Until he does, he is considered a low man on the totem pole.

Temporary Residence:

:bulletblack: Tahir- He ‘shares’ a home with his brother, mate, and kids since the collapse of Vinoss.

:bulletblack: Minosha- Particularly, a village called Arias near the lake.  Here is the home that he had known for 15 years of his life, which Nikolas has extended a temporary stay.  Now, Beros spends more time at Tahir, only occasionally stopping to see how his old man is doing.

Occupation:
:bulletblack:Commander- A lot of the time, Beros tries to develop strategies for the upcoming battle using his historical knowledge to the best of his abilities.  On the field, he fights as one of the soldiers, preferring not distance himself morally from the troops due to his rank.

:bulletblack:Historian- While a commander, Beros still searches Zion for clues of the missing history since Caelius’ imprisonment. He also keeps tabs on firsthand accounts of the war, mostly through his eyes as he observes the history of Zion changing.

Weapon:

:bulletblack: Solaris- A great sword designed for two hand wielding.  Beros can hold/use it one handed if needed (like he is attempting to cast magic), but most of the time it is to dodge (both ground and flight).  Otherwise, both hands are gripping the hilt.

:bulletblack: Dagger- He has started carrying a dagger as a precaution after running one of his own, and later learned that is a blood mage.

Personality:

Beros is kind hearted, extremely well-tempered, and extremely curious, especially to new people and those he considers friends. People more often encounter this side of the Phoenix. When Beros first meets someone, he asks many questions to understand how one became who they are today or about their town and the most recent events. While doing so, his hand is occupied taking notes on the subject. But, he doesn’t continue if one were tell him enough. He aims to have a good conversation going where it isn’t just him talking. It takes a lot to anger him, but those that have succeeded swear never to do it again.

But, being a Phoenix as makes Beros unsure about people’s true intentions. Though he likes having two way conversations, Beros changes the subject when it comes to his race, past, or skill/hobby under the impression that the person wants something or to catch him at his weakest. If he can't change the subject, Beros tells half-truths, except when he has to answer his race with a lie of 'Angel' (much to his dismay).

While the majority of time he is happy, Beros has his moments of depression. He doesn't like burdening friends with his problems and will do his best to keep it that way. Especially since the source of his depression is how his society views him. The idea of being 'touched' makes the young Phoenix feel alienated from the rest of his race since he hasn't encountered another touched Phoenix. Since his soul has started to awaken 24 years ago, he’s been noticing recently that at times he isn’t as warm to people as he usually is. He apologizes for it around his friends and say he's having an off day. Beros fears it is only a matter of time before he and his past life(s) become one entity, where he suspects he will be the one to disappear. It is during this times, he more commonly found playing his flute and can be startled very easily.

Beros doesn’t hold all Areans to the standards everyone thinks. He wouldn’t mind holding a conversation with one. But lately, his opinion depends on one’s food source. </span>

Since the promotion, he developed two ‘sides’.  On duty, he’s focused on the task given.  And much like his past life, he places the safety of his men and women first, unwillingly to succeed and not have the force to defend.  He handles the pressure of the field as if it is a second nature to him.

Beyond the battlefield, Beros retains his timid nature, often not looking for trouble by others or those of his race.  He tries to talk his way out, which can back him into a corner that fighting is the only option.  Only then does his backbone appear.  At the same time, he cautiously travels around, preferring to observe over engaging conversation.  When spoken to, he withholds details of his personal life, hesitant about letting anybody know him on a personal level or his military involvement.  His eyes still gleam with extreme curiosity in new areas, which he tries to go in attempt to break free of his cluttered office.

Sanatos
Unlike his present life, Sanatos is aloof, short tempered, and cold to people around him. These emotions surface during times of anger, terrifying his victims with his aura. He also surfaces when Beros draws Solaris in combat. In combat, Sanatos is a focused aerial fighter. He leaves his taunts out of the combat, only focusing on finishing his opponent quickly and moving onto the next. Orders were barked by him with authority, though Sanatos had a habit of changing them if necessary.

In normal situations, Sanatos has shown himself without his present self’s knowledge. He speaks to the point and is rather blunt to others. To many whom he talked to, they described this side of Beros rude compared to the soul’s much younger life. In his fits of rage, he primarily focuses on destroying nearby inanimate objects (such as drinking glasses and tables) since he views kills off the battle field are dishonorable.

Before ‘becoming’ Beros Solaris, Sanatos’ other reincarnations held to his personality.

History:
Sanatos Hellsbane:

Hellsbane's Detailed Bio

Sanatos was born during the War of the Gods in the region of Graston Mountains. His father ruled the race (back when the Phoenix actually lived among themselves). Sanatos started off as a swordsman at the age of 20 in his father’s personal guard. When an Arean assassin killed Varos Hellsbane, the Phoenix scatter across Zion as Sanatos joined the ranks of Helia’s army. He fought for 150 years (and climbing to the commander) before meeting the goddess, where he swore his eternal service to her. At the next battle and when Ivalina trapped the two factions, Sanatos was stabbed in the chest, missing his heart but severely damaging one of his lungs. The soldier refused treatment or aid for his injury.

He bursts into flames three days later at the ‘young’ age of 170. His soul returned for two lives and rested in the sea of chaos for at most a century. While in captivity, Sanatos lived as a weapon smith and a priest whom played a flute in his temple. However, his memories of his vow and service slept.

Beros Solaris:
25 years before the factions’ release, Beros Solaris was born in Minosha to his parents with normal dual toned wings. His mother stayed until he turned 6, leaving him with his weapon smith father. Beros helped his father by cleaning the shop front. During that time, he started to learn about sword fighting. Seven months after his mother left, dreams of combat plagued the young Phoenix. At first, he said nothing until a small crown of blood red feathers appeared on his wings. His father closed the shop and sought out one of the elders at Graston Mountains. There, the dying elder announced he was touched by his past life.

Beros was then separated from his father and assigned to many positions in attempts to learn the soul’s name. After three years, the elder passed on and Beros returned to Minosha.  He assisted his father once more until a musician passed through. During the time the music player was in town, Beros took lessons on the flute, which he picked up rather quickly. He returned to his father’s side once more and repeated the cycle when he learned to read and write.

All the while, glimpses of battle fields and blood red skies tormented the youth. Occasionally, he dreamt of playing the flute in building of stained glass.

When Beros turned 18, his father passed down his sword Solaris and sent the young Phoenix out into the world. Beros travelled the small world of Caelius, searching for others of his kind in hopes to figure out the meaning of his dreams. At the same time, he started writing a history book full of legends he encountered. The other Phoenix he encountered either ignored him or chased him out of their ‘territory’ under claims he was trying to take them (towns, villages, a district of a big city) over. Eventually, a dying elder took him in when he was 22. Under her, he learned of warrior known as Hellsbane and the races life cycle as well as their powers. She warned him of the other races and to hide his personal information.

A few days before she died, the 24 year old Beros convinced her to tell him how the warrior died. She told him that legend says Hellsbane was injured and then never seen again. When the old woman died, Beros started waking up with pain flaring up from his birthmark. He concludes that his soul is Hellsbane. He set out again and headed for Castitatis for answers and historical records of the war. He arrived a few days before the eclipse and stopped in temple for the goddess Helia. There, he stayed and played his flute until an image of the goddess came to him in his sleep. In his dream, he heard himself swear service using the name Sanatos Hellsbane.

When the eclipse occurred, Beros went into hiding in remote regions of Caelius territory to work on his skills before revealing himself, hoping to avoid scouts or any potential battlefronts. During this time, he taught himself how to 'cook' jerky and leatherwork. When he came out to restock on supplies, he heard the news of the war's major battles. Beros decided to come out and started working his way to Ziaray, only stopping at the Temple of Chronicles to read up on current events. Afterwards, he rushes off to Helia's to honor the vow his past life swore, keeping most of his travels on the ground unless flight was absolutely necessary.

Since his enlistment, Beros has met many people across Zion. On Kohane Islands, he and his friend, Malijah, explored the mysterious causes of a shipwreck with a tome and their guts as their guide. Later on, he figures that Fate is trying to tell him something as he and others are dragged into a conflict on De ‘Arrealm. There, the young Phoenix encountered the Guardians. After speaking with Mikhail, he retires for the night and spends the morning pondering their discussion. For that time, Beros clung to his cocoon of racial lies.

After this incident and suffering in Battle of Linhar, Beros receives a letter from his father, Nikolas. Having aided the goddess Ivalina in her efforts, Beros immediately flies back to his birthplace. After being welcomed into his father’s refuge, Beros comforts the older phoenix. He asks his father to try building armor, offering to work at the shop to help pay it off. While working a clerk and a runner, Beros was allowed a day off, which he spent in Ziaray. There, he ran into his young friend, Adhil, and spent the time there trying to comfort the Earthran commander as well as providing support.

Again, fate liked to play with him as Beros encounters another Phoenix with tricolor wings that goes by the name of ‘Virmin’. With him was a small Rockkin child named Tongtong. As Beros obeyed his father’s wishes about not fighting the other Phoenix, Beros gets a surprise of his life that the newcomer is his older brother. At first, the young Phoenix is suspicious of his sibling, but has warmed up to the idea as well as warming up to the fact of his condition, starting to embrace the advice Mikhail had given him.

After meeting Alexandros Lystrate, Beros accepted the mismatched family as his own.  Yet, he remains determined to handle his own issues.  Even insisting on dealing with a Helvian Phoenix blood mage named Sirius Bloodstone, whom imprinted an almost constant paranoia of people close and strangers by triggering his insecurities.  Seeing a chance though, his niece, George, introduced him to a friend of hers in the red light district of Vinoss.  He connected with her quicker than he thought, coming to her aid a few days later from the hands of his own men.  Merry stuck close to him and during an improvised vacation to Namani Island.  During the collapse of Vinoss and other regions, Beros fled from his post in Samahari to rescue the madame; bringing her to his brother’s mountain home in Tahir.

Likes:
-Reading (especially history)
-Music with a haughty feel
-Time to play his flute, especially if it is in one of the goddess’ (Helia) temples
-Learning new things about a variety of races, towns, and individuals
-Jerky, especially deer
-Flying
-Leatherworking (but all he can do is belts and pouches... XD He has to buy the bigger leather products.)

Dislikes:
-Any Arean whom consumes a soul of a Phoenix (But only if it is done in front or told.)

-Burnt food
-People after his tears
-Seeing the memories of Sanatos Hellsbane since he thinks he is the one to disappear
-Being grounded (due to orders or one of his wings being broken)
-Doing nothing, he has to be doing something! Even if it means twirling one of his writing quills around.
-Telling lies (Even though he does it for safety reasons...)

-Endless paperwork:  Since becoming a commander, it was a thing that he accepted.  But when it reaches a point of swallowing every flat surface in his office, it becomes that of a chore.

Random facts:
:bulletblack: Despite his cold and rude nature, Sanatos is protective of those that hold his respect and most importantly, his present life Beros.
:bulletblack: Most Phoenix wings are dual toned. Beros wings are tri-toned: blood red, sunset orange, and golden yellow due to being ‘touched’ by his past life. The golden yellow slowly shrinks as the souls merge.
:bulletblack: Beros likes to play the flute when he’s thinking and mostly in a place of worship. Plus, when he is alone (or failed to notice a bystander in the area).
:bulletblack: The ‘scar’ on Beros chest is a birthmark. It was the killing blow for Sanatos all those years ago. He usually keeps it covered though and gets horribly embarrassed if people see it.
:bulletblack: If asked about his wings (after he claims to be an angel), he will respond that he liking dying them.
:bulletblack: The yellow feather is from his mother before she left while an orange feather is his fathers. Beros likes to tie them onto his hair.  But, he doesn’t wear them to battle.  While his father still lives, he doesn’t know if his mother does.  Thus, he doesn’t want to see the only thing he has of hers destroyed.
:bulletblack: Unbeknownst to Beros, the merging of souls is a sacred thing when the two become one whole entity. The younger of the soul absorbs the older soul and takes on some of the quirks of the said soul. Poor guy doesn’t know much because not many Phoenixes have been ‘touched’ like him. Thus, a good portion of their history and culture are missing.
:bulletblack: He can't swim...period. The best he can do flail around and hope to find something solid.

Abilities
-Tears of Healing: This is a racial ability of the Phoenix. Their tears can heal severe wounds to poisonings. Healers of the other races will do anything to have a vial or two of Phoenix tears on hand, but they don’t realize that theses tears come with a price. Over time, shedding these tears strip the Phoenix of emotion and eventually, one’s life span.

-Fires of Hell: Hellsbane’s signature move. Fire engulfs the user and blade. To their opponents, it resembles a giant bird. It increases Sanatos’s speed and attack power, but leaves him venerable during and immediately after the strike. Sanatos (and Beros alike) prefer using this as a last resort since they don’t have the endurance to support it for extended periods of time. It was this move that caused Hellbane's fall during the War of the Gods. :iconupdateplz: In aerial form, Beros resembles a large fire bird, wrapped in a shell of fires for the spell duration. On the ground, a bird-like helm covers his face as his wings are cloaked in flames. Fiery plates cover his chest, arms, and legs. Beros holds the spell for at most two strikes. :iconupdateplz:

-Any other of Sanatos’ abilities was locked away (and lost) with the passage of time. Though the two share the same affinity of fire, the other moves and spells were forgotten and slowly being replaced by those learned by Beros. Now, if the young Phoenix can master them without causing a small explosion…^^;

Relationship/Friendship(s):

On the Gods:

:bulletblack:Helia- Beros has a feeling of sworn service from his past life. He hasn’t met the goddess or her generals in this time. But, he is determined to live up her expectations.

:bulletblack:Ivalina- Though the young warrior hasn’t met the younger goddess yet, he carries Sanatos’ suspicion of the goddess and his disdain of falling into her trap.

:bulletblack:Deamond- Again, he hasn’t met the god, but from the glimpses of the War of Gods, he has respect for the god of Ares (and glad that he can’t be on the receiving end of the scythe).

People important to him:
:bulletblack:Nikolas Solaris- His father and silent support. Beros knows the older Phoenix still cares for young wanderer and thankful for the old room above the shop. Sometimes, the relationship is strained due to Nikolas nudging his son to confront his insecurities.

The Phoenix

General overview-  Typing up.  Since I’m trying to do all the bells and whistles with the sub species file, this will be a write up of the Phoenix as a whole generally.  And with room for people to branch out and have fun.  :)

Finally decided to take this oppertunity to comment on ur magnificent character.
First-I have to say I absolutely love the way you drew his eyes. They are so striking, and his expression is simply adorable.
I love the little feathers in his hair, and the stitchwork on his shirt.
I think his wings are simply beautiful-the gradient effect from red to yellows is so warm-its suits his backstory as a phoenix perfectly.
Overall, he has a gorgeous color scheme.
